For how long has the profile wrapping method been used?

As production technology, profile wrapping has been used since the mid 70's. When the technology developed in Europe in the 1970s, the manufacturers saw opportunities for solutions preferable to solid wood. Since then, technology and materials have evolved and new applications for the technology are constantly evolving We at GLT Herrljunga started our first casing line in 1981 and have developed and changed a lot since then; Nowadays we have the capacity to produce from the smallest glass lists to complex aluminum profiles and also wide-profile wrapped boards with over 1200mm in width.

Because it is relatively easy to change surface material, you can often count multiple types of lists in the same profile. Example; For the same profile you need 300m with white foil, 100m with black foil and 100m with oak veneer. Our offer then based on 500m.

Can I use folied / veneered profiles in all environments?

We manufacture profile wrapped components primarily for interior environments. The largest amount of all the products we manufacture is made of MDF, Particleboard, Solid wood, and is covered with paper-based foils or veneers that are not suitable for outdoor use. Certain solutions with moisture-proof core materials such as MDF, aluminum or plastic, combined with PU adhesives and plastic-based foils or laminates, can create solutions that are suitable for environments with moisture and temperature variations, and sometimes even for outdoor use.

Is expensive tools required for profile wrapping?

The cutting tools is used in the profile plaines to create the customer's desired profile. There may be forms or fixed tools depending on application. Otherwise we provide customized tools, which are charged as part of the product cost.

What is the difference between veneer and foil?

Veneer is real wood cut into very thin (0.3mm) layers. The layers are glued to a non-wowen web (flies). With a veneer-molded profile, you can access the natural variation of color and texture. Foils are made of paper or plastic material with printed décor and can also be structured (relief printing). Foils are available in a variety of standard designs, but you can also order specially according to your wishes.
